The retired freelance designer, marketing consultant, Goldsmith and Freeman of the City of London, is graduating in Design and Craft BA(Hons) and is looking to continue his studies.
John started his course at the university’s campus in Hastings as a precursor to retirement but, he said: "Academia has now taken over my life – I already have a place on the university’s Craft MA course and I’m hoping to do a PhD next year."
John’s love of his chosen art form is driving him on: "I would recommend anyone to follow their passion. It keeps you young and one never knows where it may take you.
"I began the course thinking I would pursue contemporary ceramics but, instead, I have delved back into ancient history and explored the world of faience, a ceramic with no clay content, and tried to follow the path of its makers from 5000BC."
